Cafe Lento

Kate, my youngest daughter, and I started Cafe Lento in Headingley in 2007 with a view to creating a cafe with a very strong continental feel. We called it ‘lento’ because it means ‘slow’ or ‘slowly’ in both Italian and Spanish - we wanted to create a cafe that felt very relaxed, informal where you could linger over food or drink. Plus ‘lento’ is a musical term, and we both share a passion for music, particularly live music.

We serve best quality coffee and home made food. Ingredients are
sourced locally, seasonally, and fairtrade as far as possible. We are firmly committed to the mutual support of independent businesses.
Jazz is my passion and each Friday evening we host live jazz from around 8 pm. Many of our bands are local musicians who have trained at Leeds College of Music and we are very proud to provide opportunities for young players to showcase their talents. Live music doesn't get much more intimate than at Cafe Lento
