St Chad’s Broomfield Cricket Club

Far Headingley is the home of the 130 year old St Chad's Broomfield Cricket Club, a ‘village’ amateur cricket club playing in an inner city environment. Founded in the early 1880s, its grounds have been in front of St Chad's Church since 1922. The club merged with Headingley Broomfield CC in 1979 to form St Chad's Broomfield CC.

We are a strong community based club and have 15 senior and junior teams playing both at the weekend and midweek, with all but one team continuing to play in front of St Chad's Church. With a new women and girls’ section and a new under 7s team, we are now able to provide cricket for those who have not had the opportunity in the past.

Not only do we have on-field success (21 trophies in the last 10 seasons) we also have a social scene that is second to none. What more would you want from a cricket club? What about a visit to our nets by England and Yorkshire players Gary Ballance and Jonny Bairstow (see our website: click here) or us hosting the first outdoor game of the year in January! Yes, really!

Come and join us. We are looking for new players of all standards and ages.  And if you want to play all year round, you can play for one of our indoor league teams in the winter. We provide cricket for a wide variety of standards and ages all year round.
We are also looking for volunteers and sponsors. Contact us …
