Hi! We are Rebecca and Antony. Together we set up Silver Grey Foliage - our flower farm and floristry business.
Rebecca moved to Headingley from Birmingham in 1998 as a student and Antony grew up in Mirfield. We moved back to Headingley with our children in January 2018 because we realised that it was a fantastic place to settle for our family now and for the future. Where else outside of London could you find students, nuns, older generations, families, ethnic diversity and independent businesses all in the same street?!
Since we married in 2010 we have worked together in the garden. In 2019 a friend asked Rebecca to be her wedding florist. This was the catalyst that we needed to scale up our passion for growing and caring for plants into Silver Grey Foliage. We now grow many of the flowers that we use from late Spring to early Autumn to ensure that our fresh flowers have the lowest possible carbon footprint.
2020 is our tenth year of marriage. It is another landmark year because, amidst the pandemic, we followed through with the opportunity to take over The Green Yard at HEART - our house plant and perennials shop. We are grateful to this vibrant team for welcoming us in at this chaotic time!
We offer bunches of flowers, bouquets of flowers, flower subscriptions, houseplants, perennials and workshops. We also drink tea and share advice! You can order through our website and collect from HEART or we can deliver to you at home. A large selection of our houseplants and our perennials are available to browse at HEART, Monday-Saturday, 0900-1600.
We love working with plants, flowers and foliage and we hope that this resonates through everything that we do. We would like to thank everyone who has supported our work over the past few months by shopping locally. Headingley has a thriving collection of independent shops. We are delighted to live and work here and we are grateful for your continued support.
